Southern Cross Hospital Invercargill is the only private hospital in the city of Invercargill, and is widely known and used by people throughout the Southland and the Queenstown-Wakatipu basin areas. It provides services to around 3,000 patients annually, has 25 in-patient beds and a Day Surgery Unit accommodating up to 16 patients per session.

The hospital was originally established in 1919. It was bequeathed to Southern Cross in 1992 and a new hospital built and completed in August 1994. The hospital is a top class facility in a very pleasant inner city location opposite the Queens Park and Southland Museum.
Here’s what patients can expect from Southern Cross Hospital Invercargill:
- To make your stay as comfortable as possible, rooms for overnight stay have an ensuite, telephone, television, refrigerator, radio and tea making facilities.
- We have a modern day-stay facility for those who do not require staying overnight.
- We have a professional nursing team focused on providing a high standard of care and comfort during your stay.
- We provide nourishing, quality meals for overnight patients and can cater for special dietary requirements on request. We can also arrange visitor meals for a reasonable charge, if requested early in the day.
- We deliver complimentary daily newspapers on request to patients who stay overnight.
- Visiting hours are 10am to 8.30pm, but special arrangements can be made at your request. Please let us know if we can support you in limiting your visitors. We aim to ensure a restful and private environment for all our patients.
- Ample visitor parking.
- Pleasant grounds and gardens surround the hospital, including a sheltered courtyard with seating to enjoy the Southland sun.
