Because we have a Southern Cross hospital, or a joint venture hospital, in North Harbour, central Auckland, Hamilton, Rotorua, Tauranga, New Plymouth, Palmerston North, Wellington, Nelson, Christchurch and Invercargill, for lots of Kiwis it means we’re practically in their backyard. Which is great, especially when they want to pop in for a visit with a handful of flowers, a bunch of family or a little person.
Not everyone knows that we’re a not-for-profit private hospital network. What does that mean? Well, unlike many other private hospitals, we’re here to help people get healthy again, without striving to make unduly healthy profits. If we do happen to make a surplus, it doesn’t go into an investor’s piggy bank, but back into our hospitals, delivering new surgical technology or developing our people so that you, our patients, get to profit from it by way of better healthcare.
When you stay with us, we want you to be as comfortable as possible. So if that means you’d prefer to wear your comfy pyjamas when you’re with us, we’re happy with that. If you have matching monster slippers too, don’t be shy, bring them in too.
All of our people are with us because they have chosen a career where they can care for others. You’ll find this warm quality throughout our hospitals, in those who greet you at reception, in our theatre and ward nurses, and in the enthusiastic and friendly people working behind the scenes making the delicious and nutritious dishes you’ll enjoy while you’re with us.
