North Shore orthopaedic joint venture announced

Southern Cross Hospitals has teamed up with a group of orthopaedic surgeons in a joint venture to build a new state-of-the-art day stay hospital in Milford on Auckland’s North Shore. The new facility will meet rising demand for high quality care in the area.

Construction on the three-storey building that will house North Shore Surgical Centre will begin during April 2018, just across the road from North Shore Hospital.

The North Shore has the fastest growing population in New Zealand and its population is also ageing. With joint problems common among those over 50 years old, residents will have less distance to attend the care centre, according to orthopaedic surgeon Tony Danesh-Clough.

The joint venture hospital will have 3 operating theatres run by 30 staff, offering keyhole orthopaedic operations. The new facility is expected to be operating around mid-2019.
