Southern Cross Hospital in Christchurch is the largest hospital within our national network

Owned by Southern Cross since 1979, the centrally situated hospital campus includes one of the biggest and most advanced private surgical hospitals in the South Island.

The Christchurch hospital campus has seen significant upgrades and new facilities in recent years, and typically provides services to around 9,500 patients each year. Facilities include digital operating theatres, an advanced 'hybrid' operating room, systems for robotically-assisted surgery, advanced digital scanning technologies, consulting facilities and a purpose built endoscopy centre.

Overnight

Overnight rooms for patients include ensuite, television, telephone and radio. We provide quality meals, with special dietary needs catered for on request.

Day-stay

Day-stay patients enjoy comfortable lounges and are provided with light refreshments following surgery.

A professional nursing team focused on providing a high standard of care and comfort during your stay.

Visitors

Visitor meals can also be arranged on request for a reasonable charge.
Visitor parking is available.

On-site services

Our campus in Christchurch boasts ten operating theatres, including hi-tech digital theatres and the da Vinci® system for robotically assisted surgery.  Independent medical specialists can access advanced scanning and imaging technologies and consulting centres located on-site. A purpose-built endoscopy centre on site - Southern Endoscopy Centre - is one of the largest of its kind in New Zealand. Southern Cross Rehabilitation also has facilities and offers services on the hospital campus.
