Hamilton is a superbly equipped private surgical hospital

Situated in a quiet, central part of Hamilton, Southern Cross Hospital has been proudly serving the wider Waikato community for many years.  The hospital has been extensively expanded and upgraded and now incorporates 8 fully equipped operating theatres, 60 inpatient beds, a purpose-built Day Surgery Unit, an advanced interventional cardiology suite.  It also boasts a six bed intensive care unit (ICU), high dependency care and access to hi-tech radiology services, including CT and MRI.

Our comfortable facilities, combined with the very latest in technology and on-site support services, enable independent medical specialists to undertake a wide range of procedures - from routine investigations to complex surgery. Their expertise is supported by caring, professional nursing teams and a Resident Medical Officer on duty overnight.

Our Hamilton hospital offers a wide range of facilities, from digitally equipped operating theatres, right through to our Interventional Cardiology Suite. All our Hi-Tech facilities are supported by a Preadmission Clinic, Consulting Rooms, Day Surgical Unit, ICU, Radiology Services and much more. We work hard to ensure the very best equipment is available for specialists operating and consulting on site - to enable the very highest levels of care.


Hospital facilities

Our Hamilton hospital offers access to 8 advanced operating theatre, including a new-generation image guided therapy platform within our advanced cardiology suite. We provide acute, intensive care services within our 6-bedded Intensive Care Unit (ICU), along with cardiac step down services in our 4-bedded Cardiology Recovery Suite.

Specialist centres & related health providers

Our team offers our patients a bespoke Preadmission service, alongside our consulting rooms. This enables us to identify any issues or requirements, prior to the day of surgery. Other services include onsite physiotherapy and hi tech radiology services from Pacific Radiology.
