Dr Anna Lawrence

Dr Anna Lawrence is a New Zealand trained Urologist with sub-specialty training in male and female voiding dysfunction, management of post prostate cancer therapy complications, incontinence, Urethral and Pelvic Reconstructive Urology, adolescence urology and neuro-urology. 

She is currently the only Urologist on the board of the NZ Continence Society, and the only NZ Urologist who is an active member to the prestigious Society of Genitourinary Reconstruction, recently chairing a session on Male Incontinence at the American Urology Association Meeting and is involved in the American Urology Association working committees on Congenitalism Guidelines.  She has also spoken at the World Parkinson's Disease day and Prostate Cancer conference about urinary control with these disease processes.

After completing her training in in Urology in New Zealand, Anna was accepted into the prestigious Society of Urodynamics, Female Pelvic Medicine, and Urogenital Reconstruction Fellowship at the University of California, under the mentorship of Anthony Stone, and was offered a permanent position there but missed New Zealand far too much to stay long-term.

During her time in California, she gained exemplary cutting edge skills in Neuro-Urology (Spina bifida, MS, Parkinson's disease causes of voiding dysfunction), Neuro-modulation (Interstim and Tibial Nerve Stimulation), making her Auckland’s only fellowship trained Neuro-urologist.  Additionally her mentor was the “go to guy” for male incontinence and reconstruction making Anna well versed in all managements of male incontinence and reconstruction.

After her fellowship in the US, Anna was offered the opportunity to work with the Society of Genitourinary Reconstruction Surgeons president Dr Sanjay Kulkarni in Pune, India. In India Anna acquired the most recent hands on experience in New Zealand of modern techniques of urethroplasty, with the mentorship from Dr Kulkarni, Dr Barbagli and Dr Morey, the world's current urethroplasty leaders. She was an organiser and instructor at the Society of Genitourinary Reconstructive Surgeons workshop in Pune, India.

Anna has been actively involved in clinical research and has presented both nationally in New Zealand and internationally; she is currently a Specialist Consultant at Auckland Spinal Rehabilitation Unit, Counties Manukau and Auckland Hospital, New Zealand.
